Pamela May (1917-2005). British ballet dancer who trained at the Sadler’s Wells Ballet School before joining the Sadler’s Wells Ballet. Created roles in ballets by Ninette de Valois (Checkmate) and Frederick Ashton (Dante Sonata, Symphonic Variations) among others. Progressed to being a character dancer and teacher, and was also Vice-President of the Royal Academy of Dance.
